Technology Transfer Office

What we do:

The main tasks of the Technology Transfer Office include supporting the transfer of knowledge and scientific achievements and their promotion among economic organizations in the field of commercialization. The above task is carried out through:

  • identification of innovative solutions created at the MUG,
  • comprehensive protection of intellectual property rights,
  • administrative support for the process of protection and use of intellectual property rights of the MUG in cooperation with a patent attorney,
  • keeping databases on implemented projects,
  • analysis of the market potential of conducted projects and research results, recommendations regarding their protection,
  • development of design flashcards for inventions created at the MUG, including innovative solutions,
  • promoting the offer of innovative solutions during fairs, business conferences and direct meetings with potential recipients of technology,
  • identification of potential business partners interested in cooperation in commercialization or licensing of technologies developed by MUG scientists,
  • building a network of contacts with industry, establishing and formalizing contacts between entrepreneurs and scientists,
  • participation in negotiations, preparation and supervision of the implementation of contracts related to commercialization, cooperation with Technology Transfer Centers, Science and Technology Parks and special purpose vehicles as well as other related entities in the field of commercialization and pro-innovation activities,
  • cooperation with external entities in the field of innovative activities and undertaking joint research initiatives, including building relationships between business representatives and employees and research teams of the University.

Managing intellectual property rights at the Medical University of Gdańsk

The implementation of the intellectual property policy at the Medical University of Gdańsk (MUG) focuses on creating and disseminating knowledge and optimizing the benefits of using intellectual rights. At the University, the key units in the process of technology transfer and commercialization of intellectual property are the Rector’s Plenipotentiary for Commercialization, Technology Transfer Office, whose direct supervisor is the Vice-Rector for Science and a special purpose vehicle of the Medical University of Gdańsk– Medical Innovation Centre Ltd.
