The EU co-financing of the ” R&D μGrants for enterprises” project for nearly PLN 18.7 million comes from the funds of the Regional Operational Program of the Pomeranian Voivodeship for 2014-2020. Medical Innovation Centre Ltd. will implement the project activites in the amount of PLN 2.5 mln. The consortium has a total of several dozen experts – scientists from various fields, who will support entrepreneurs applying for grants and verify their research and development plans and ideas.
The activities of the consortium as an operator will consist in offering entrepreneurs non-returnable support in the form of grants of up to PLN 200,000. PLN for the purchase of research and development (R&D) services provided by the service provider selected by the entrepreneur. In addition to awarding grants, the support system will offer entrepreneurs additional assistance. An initial consultation will be available to help define the scope of the service needed and identify a potential service provider. A regularly updated catalogue of research areas and potential service providers will be created, whose offers will be verified by the system operator.
R&D projects carry a higher risk than other types of projects carried out by enterprises, which is often a disincentive to their undertaking and implementation. The grant will reduce this risk by co-financing the possibility of verifying the company’s idea by conducting preliminary research and providing competent expert knowledge of the selected service provider regarding the market implementation prospects of a given technology in the form of a product or service. Thanks to the R&D service financed with the grant and additional support from the system operator and partners, the entrepreneur will be able to proceed to full-scale R&D in the next step, using his funds or applying for other sources of funding, including those that will be available from European funds in 2021-2027.
